FAQs
What kind of modalities do you use?
My approach is relational, client-centered, collaborative, and somatic. We’ll integrate relational “talk-therapy” with somatic modalities, including IFS, narrative approaches, and EMDR, as appropriate and with your consent. The integration of these approaches allows us to explore inner conflict, reprocess trauma, and build a greater sense of trust in yourself.
What does “somatic” work mean?
The term “somatic” simply means having to do with the body. When I use a somatic approach, I work toward helping you connect with your body and learn to build awareness for the needs your body has. With greater connection to our bodies, we are able to honor our needs and more easily take care of ourselves. Somatic work is an integral part of trauma processing and building insight.
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a method of trauma processing that can help us re-write unhelpful narratives that are holding us back or causing us pain. It’s a method that can help connect the dissonance between what we “know” and what we “feel” for greater healing. It’s one of many options we have in our work together.
How long can I expect to be in therapy?
The short answer is that it depends - on your goals, frequency of sessions, and depth of work you are hoping to explore in therapy. Most clients report new insight and sense of progress within the first 4-5 sessions.
Where do you practice?
I have a physical office located in City Park West in Denver and I offer telehealth for residents of Colorado, for those who prefer a virtual option.
Is telehealth effective?
Yes, for most people, telehealth can be an equally effective option and is great for days when the weather is poor, you’re feeling under the weather, or when transportation is difficult. I’m happy to discuss your preferences for in-person vs. telehealth.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes — I accept most major insurance plans, including United, Cigna, Anthem, Aetna, and Kaiser. Please refer to the Fees page to see which insurances are currently accepted , as well as options for private pay.
